Meet Lisa

A Lifetime of Service and Leadership

Lisa Stone Barnes, a Nash County native, is an active member of the community, and a business and legal professional. She is currently serving her second term on the Nash County Board of Commissioners where she has worked to promote quality of life while also keeping taxes low for citizens. Prior community and public service engagements include serving as a member of the Nash County Planning Board, the Rocky Mount Farmers Market Board, and the Southern Nash High School Athletic Boosters Board.

Lisa began her career in the legal field as a real estate paralegal with a private firm where she developed a love for, and interest in, the legal system. She also worked for a short time in the Rocky Mount Planning and Development Department. Lisa is a graduate of the UNC School of Government’s Advanced Leadership Corps program and is a mentor with the Local Elected Leaders Academy.

Conservative & Principled

North Carolina is a great place to live, work and raise a family. In order to keep our state moving in the right direction we need leaders with the right expertise, vision and leadership skills. Lisa believes our citizens deserve high-paying jobs in a diversified economy, access to quality healthcare, good roads and infrastructure, and quality education. We need leaders in the General Assembly who understand that government’s main function is to balance the budget, control spending and keep taxes low, so that individuals and communities can continue to excel and reach their highest potential.

Dedicated & Experienced

Lisa’s diverse experience with business, managing budgets, volunteering in the community and working to solve real problems on the Board of Commissioners will enable her to provide conservative leadership with a common-sense approach. She believes the only way to successfully serve all citizens in House District 7 is to listen first. Only then can leadership work to provide practical solutions that address real problems. Lisa is committed to listening to and representing the citizens in House District 7 and working with members of the General Assembly to ensure that North Carolina's best days are still ahead.
